The healing powers of these waters were famous from the ancient times. It is recommended to use the hot springs for treating such diseases like nervous disorders, rheumatism, eyes and skin diseases, indigestion etc. In translation from Turkish, the word “Pamukkale” means “the cotton castle”.
The resort Hierapolis used to be there, it was repeatedly visited by the Roman emperors. Among all the landmarks, the residues of the Roman streets, the Apollo temple, Plutonium, the Roman thermal baths, the amphitheatre and the biggest Turkish necropolis have survived to these days.
In Pamukkale you can bathe in the pearly white travertines and take the bright photos “in the snow” or “in the salt”, as tourists call this place. Afterwards you will have the chance to stroll along the antique resort city Hierapolis.
And you can also bathe in the Kleopatra Pool! It is the thermal pool with the mineral water where the temperature is +36ºC in winter and in summer. It cures huge number of diseases and brings lots of bright emotions!
The last point of your trip will be the incredible Salda Lake. It is the crater water body of a volcanic origin and the deepest freshwater lake in Turkey.
